When that person can no longer support his or her half of the expenses?<\/p>\n<p>A client called the <a href=\"https:\/\/marriagecounseling-longisland.com\">Long Island Marriage Counseling Center at Huntington, NY<\/a> with that story and my heart went out to her. She sees their extra money going for living expenses, eating a big chunk into their retirement savings. What to do?<\/p>\n<p>I helped her work out a plan to lower expenses and even shut down the heat in the main part of the house&#8230; anything to conserve capital. And then we worked on her feelings &#8211; She felt angry, frustrated and helpless&#8230; not at her mate but at her circumstances. As she worked toward acceptance, she began to develop some new resources and think more flexibly.
